Dent Moses Partner and Manager Honored by UAB Collat School of Business and Birmingham Business Journal

Dent Moses Managing Partner, Mike Baker was named 2019 Accounting Alumnus of the Year, while Manager, Jessica Bou Akar was recognized as the 2019 Accounting Young Alumnus of the Year by the University of Alabama Collat School of Business. This is the first year the Accounting Young Alumnus award was presented making  Bou Akar the first to receive this prestigious award.

Presented at a reception on April 26, 2019, these awards recognized Baker and Bou Akar’s support and active involvement with UAB Collat School of Business and the accounting department.

Jessica Bou Akar has also been named as one of Birmingham Business Journal’s 2019 Rising Stars of Money. This special feature in the May 3 issue, honors up-and-coming leaders who are already making waves in the banking, finance, private equity, investment banking, financial planning and wealth management sectors. All honorees are under 30 and selected based on their accomplishments to date, their contributions to their companies, and their potential to become an industry leader.

Mike Baker has served as Managing Partner at Dent Moses since 2016 focusing on the areas of taxation and general business consulting. He also heads the firm’s legal and engineering segments. Mike is a Certified Accounting Professional (CPA), as well as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with Series 7 and Series 63 licenses from the National Association of Securities Dealers. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Alabama Society of CPAs (ASCPA) and the Financial Planning Institute (FPA).

Baker received his accounting equivalency from the University of Alabama Birmingham after receiving his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Auburn University. As an UAB alumnus, he serves as the Chairman of the UAB Accounting Advisory Board.

As a manager at Dent Moses, Jessica Bou Akar provides assurance and taxation assistance to various industries including wholesale distribution, professional services firms, employee benefit plans, and not-for-profits. Jessica is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She received her B.S. in Accounting and Master’s of Accountancy from the University of Alabama Birmingham.
