Mike Baker joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in Dent, Baker & Company in 1997. He served as Managing Partner from 2016 to 2025. His practice is concentrated in taxation and general business consulting, and he heads the firm’s legal and engineering segments.

A CPA, Mike is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Alabama Society of CPAs (ASCPA), and the Financial Planning Institute (FPA). He serves Allianial Global as a Board Member. Additionally, he serves as Chairman of the UAB Accounting Advisory Board and is involved with Samford University’s Brock School of Business.

A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama, Mike earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and an accounting equivalency from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys shooting, hunting, and fishing. He is a member of the sportsmen’s clubs Southern Skeet and Trap and Lake George. He and his wife, Karen, have one daughter.
