IRS Extends Individual Tax Deadline

On Wednesday, March 17, the IRS announced that the 2020 individual income tax filing deadline will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.
“This continues to be a tough time for many people, and the IRS wants to continue to do everything possible to help taxpayers navigate the unusual circumstances related to the pandemic, while also working on important tax administration responsibilities,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.
While the April 15 deadline for 2020 returns and payments has been extended, the due date for 2021 first-quarter estimates remains April 15.
Regardless of the deadline extension, we remain committed to completing returns by April 15, 2021. We understand many people want to have 2020 in their rear-view mirror.
