Dent, Baker Announce Tax Season Interns | Press Release – January 2015 | PDF

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Dent, Baker & Company, LLP is pleased to announce Kristen Francisco, Joey King, and Sarah Phillips as our interns for the upcoming tax season. The interns will assist Dent, Baker through the April 15th tax deadline.

Kristen Francisco is a senior at Samford University graduating in May 2015 and is a student member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). She is originally from Nashville, where her parents are both accountants.

Kristen moved to Birmingham to attend Samford and continue the family tradition of studying accounting. During her time at Samford, she has been very involved in a number of campus organizations, serving as treasurer for her sorority and Vice President of Community Service for Beta Alpha Psi. In her free time, Kristen enjoys music, reading, and exploring Birmingham. She is also passionately involved in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and is serving on Homewood’s Relay Committee for 2015.

Joey King will graduate in April 2015 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Upon graduation, he plans to immediately start preparing to earn his CPA certification. He chose this career because of the challenges, as well as the benefits it presents.

Joey recently moved to Birmingham from Jacksonville, Florida. He and his wife Morgan have one daughter, and are expecting a son. He enjoys spending time with his extended family, playing with his daughter, and is a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church. Joey is also a big Alabama football fan.

Sarah Phillips was born and raised in Arab, Alabama and will graduate with her bachelor’s degree in accounting from UAB in April of 2015, and aspires to go on to earn her master’s and study for the CPA exam. Sarah has worked with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in the past, preparing tax returns for low-income families.
She enjoys being involved in the community, both through service projects and her church. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and even video games. However, she enjoys spending time with her church, friends, and family most of all.
