BIRMINGHAM, AL – Dent, Baker & Company, LLP is pleased to announce two promotions effective January 1, 2015. Rebecca Kitchen has been promoted to Manager and Jessica Bou Akar has been promoted to Senior Accountant.

Rebecca Kitchen joined the firm in 2009 as an intern fresh out of college and liked it so much she stayed. Rebecca is involved with the Young Professionals of Birmingham and is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA).

Originally from Trussville, Alabama, Rebecca attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she earned a B.S. in Chemistry. Upon graduation, however, she realized that this was not where her career interests lie and after trying an accounting class, Rebecca knew she had found the right path. She returned to UAB to earn her Bachelors of Accounting in 2008.
After finishing her education, Rebecca adopted Birmingham as her home town. She still enjoys learning new things and likes to spend her free time watching football, playing sports, reading, painting, playing games and being outdoors (even doing yard work).

Jessica Bou Akar joined the firm as an intern in January 2012 and began full time in August of that same year. In her current role, Jessica provides assurance and taxation assistance for various industries including wholesale distribution, professional services firms and not-for-profits.

Jessica is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Accounting and her Masters of Accountancy. Jessica earned her CPA certification in 2014.
Jessica now calls Birmingham, Alabama home after moving here from Lebanon. In her free time, Jessica is involved with her community through the St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church.
